|A Message from Your New Alumni President
Dear Fellow Alumni,
As your new Alumni President, I would like to introduce myself to you. My name is Jennifer Bowen Pinto and I am happy to serve as the new President of the Barry University Alumni Association Law School Chapter. I am a May 2007 graduate and am now a partner with a fellow alum in a firm focusing on immigration law, The Law Offices of Farr and Bowen. I am very excited about the Chapter being an avenue to create strong bonds between alumni, get involved in the community, and give back to Barry University School of Law.
This is a very exciting time for our Alumni Chapter and for our alma mater. Since we are a relatively new school, there is a lot of work to do to ensure that our alumni organization is an exceptional one. Sean Kramer, Assistant Vice President of Alumni Relations from Barry’s main campus in Miami, has been working very closely with the Law School on making our alumni chapter an official part of Barry University. At a March 6, 2008 meeting, five Barry Law Alumni signed a petition asking to recognize our group as part of the Barry community, and a new constitution and bylaws were discussed, with comments and changes submitted. The Board of Directors of Barry University’s Alumni Association granted our request for a new charter and approved the constitution and bylaws we proposed.
On April 10, 2008, an alumni meeting was held to formally adopt the bylaws and elect officers to serve until annual elections in November. For those of you who were able to attend, it was great to see all of your familiar faces and meet a few new ones. For those who were unable to make it there, it was a very exciting meeting resulting in the adoption of new bylaws and the election of new officers. Your newly elected officers are myself, Phil Wigglesworth (Vice-President), and David Katz (Secretary). Phil, David, and I are committed to making the Law School Chapter an active one and providing positive, dedicated leadership.
Our new Charter and Bylaws will be available on the alumni website in the near future for everyone to review. If you are not registered on the alumni website, please contact Brigitte Debbarh at firstname.lastname@example.org to get your login information so we can be sure to advise you of all upcoming events and news. We are also in the process of creating a schedule of events for the Chapter, organizing committees, and we plan to be involved in the upcoming graduation next month. If you have any questions, comments, or would like to serve on a committee, please feel free to contact me anytime via email at Jennifer@farrandbowen.com. I look forward to working with each of you!
